Good afternoon everyone,
Click On the Button Below for the Patrol Roster Framework for the 2026/2027 season. As with last year, we will continue using the hybrid model: Patrols A & B will alternate half-day shifts between mornings and afternoons, while the remaining four patrols C, D, E & F will operate full-day shifts. Our Flex Group remains in place to support patrols when available, and I want to extend a huge thank you to the 22 members who have volunteered for the Emergency Callout Team. SurfCom may deploy this team in the event of an incident on the beach, and your willingness to assist is greatly appreciated.
A small update for this season:
Major public holidays that fall within the Red Zone will now be split into three 3-hour Shifts. This change comes directly from member feedback and is designed to make these high-demand days more manageable while still maintaining strong coverage on the beach.
This roster is based on several members completing awards and upskilling early in the season. If those requirements aren’t met, we may need to revise the roster; however, I’m confident we’ll achieve the necessary qualifications before the busy period begins.
I’ve done my best to keep friend groups, preferred partners, and patrolling preferences together wherever possible, based on the Pre-Season Patrol Form. I’m aware a few changes have occurred since then, and I appreciate everyone’s flexibility.
If I’ve accidentally missed you, or if you would like to patrol this season, please reach out and I’ll make sure you’re included.
A quick clarification regarding “Type” – Full, Half, Flex & Flex Group:
The Flex subtype is different from the Flex Group. Flex members are only required to attend a minimum of three hours of their rostered patrol. This was introduced following feedback from last season to help younger members stay engaged without burning out as they begin their patrolling journey. They are, of course, welcome to stay longer if they wish.
If you have any questions about the roster, please feel free to reach out. I’ll response as soon as I can.
Regards,
Thomas Joy
