Woonona SLSC offers members a range of lifesaving awards. Some are required to perform certain roles within our club, and others are aimed at providing further development opportunities for our volunteers.

Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC)

Covers the knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in basic lifesaving operations. This course is also the minimum water safety qualification for Junior Activity supervision.

Candidates must meet ALL of the following conditions:

Radio Operator

Covers the skills and knowledge to perform basic communication practices.

Bronze Medallion / Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue)

Covers the knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations.  This is the core award to be a surf lifesaver in Australia.

Advanced Resuscitation Techniques

Develops skills and knowledge to use oxygen, airway management devices, and automated external defibrillators (AEDs) during resuscitation, and to administer oxygen to conscious or unconscious breathing causalities.

Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Crewperson

Covers with the skills and knowledge to effectively crew an IRB in surf rescue operations.

Silver Medallion Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Driver

Covers the skills and knowledge to effectively drive and manage an IRB in surf rescue operations.

Silver Medallion Basic Beach Management

Covers the skills, knowledge and experience to manage a beach in emergency and non-emergency situations.  The course is aimed at people wishing to be Patrol Captains, Lifeguards and Lifeguard Supervisors.

Training Officer Certificate

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and experience to deliver quality training of Surf Life Saving awards. This is a prerequisite to being a trainer in Surf Life Saving awards.

Assessor Certificate

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and experience to competently assess surf lifesaving awards and nationally recognised qualifications.

How to use Emergency Contact details on Iphone

 

First responders to incidents often benefit from knowing a patients' medical history, current medications or contact info in the event of an emergengy. The Iphone provides this via its Emergency feature that came with IOS v8 and beyond.

1) If the phone is unlocked- check in their contacts for I.C.E (In Case of Emergency)
2) The Emergency Medical ID app function can be accessed even if the phone is locked. After sliding to unlock, on the pin code screen, at the bottom left hand side tap "Emergency", then on the next screen tap "Medical ID".
3) To Setup the information found in the Medical ID area, select the "Health" app, then select Medical ID at the very bottom right.
